The next morning, the sun was warm and beautiful all over Santa Clarita. There was no cloud in the sky except blue! Students dressed in neat school uniforms were sent to the gate of College of the Canyons by their aunts and uncles of the host family on time for their first day of language learning.

College of the Canyons, founded in 1969, is a two-year multidisciplinary public community college in the United States.

College of the Canyons is a two-year public community college that combines an excellent education system with a mature transfer system. Certified by the Ministry of Education of China and WASC, College of the Canyons is one of the 115 public community colleges in California. Since its establishment, College of the Canyons not only set up 76 associate degree courses and 66 vocational certification training courses in special fields, but also paid more attention to the teaching standards of general education curriculum and foundation courses. It has become the top community university in the United Sates with its excellent teaching quality and the successful transfer rate ranking top 5 in California.

Today, there were three English teachers teaching students lessons. Considering that a few students were weak in English, teachers all had teaching assistants to care for each student and let them participate in the English class activities.

After class, students expressed that each teacher’s class was amazing. In fact, the classroom teaching in the United States was quite different from that in China in that most American teachers let students learn knowledge and benefit from it through interesting activities or games!

In his spare time, Tim, Director of the International Department showed Mr. Xu Zuitai and Mr. Jiang Shengyou around the administrative building, teaching buildings of each department, sports and art halls, library, sports field and other facilities. Also, he introduced the uses and safety factors of each facility in detail.

After hearing the news of the visit from Anqing Foreign Language School’s teachers and students, overseas students who once studied at Anqing Foreign Language School came to visit one after another.

Through chatting with them, we learned that most of our overseas students were doing well in College of the Canyons both in life and study. We hope they can successfully transfer to the ideal University of California through their own efforts!

At 3.50 P.M. students finished the first day’s classes. Teachers sent them to the gate of College of the Canyons. Students were full of expectations waiting for their aunts and uncles of the host family to pick them up home, because a great many surprises were waiting for them at home!
